paragon launcher (it is inside appdata/local for windows) Whitelist inAV / exceptions in firewall / ignore or non-enforcement in application behavior control: these are the things that I did (which could be more than necessary) though it is not always obvious which execs should be whitelisted. I'll try to add some more details regarding my case after I verified the cause more, in case it may help others that have similar problems. after I got the game started, I did not shut it down until I literally fell asleep in my seat yest) Still, it COULD be because I validated my files or due to any of one of the other dozen things I tried. After I tried disabling that as well (after going thru an intensive witch-hunt on my system), the game managed to start successfully. There is this 'behavior control' component that does other fuzzy things to applications which I had no idea about. It seems that modern 'system protection software' has other components than just antivirus and firewall. Tried a bunch of other things, including validating files etc.īut i think it was something else at the end that was the cause (still need to be verified).
